Monday's Postcard: Winchester Mystery House

One of my favorite places!! In San Jose, CA, the Winchester Mystery House. I visited here as an impressionable preteen and it spoke to all my imaginings of mystery and spookiness and ghosts and obsession! I just love this place. And I really enjoy these type of Now and Then photos.

I read about the Winchester House in a book called "Ghosts of the Old West" when I was a teenager, and later I saw it featured on an episode of "America's Castles". I really, really, really want to visit it!

And it seems that now I know someone who lives in that area.... :)

This site has the ignoble honor of being the place where I first met Wassa. We were both hunting for the same box. And there was even a third team there at the same time (Gerwaiian Oma & Groggy Froggy).

Toured Winchester Mystery House when I was a junior in high school. After a lifetime of San Francisco trips (we had family there), with my parents denying my every request to see the Winchester Mystery House, at last my high school choir tour to San Francisco included a stop and a tour there. I LOVED IT!!! (Now to convince my hubby to spend the money to take the kids there... our San Francisco family members have passed away now.) Did you get to go there, Amanda???
